Product Description
- Extra potent vitamin B12 sublingual tablets: Methylcobalamin, the active B12 vitamin, is crucial to formation of healthy red blood cells, energy metabolism, nervous system support, cognitive function, and homocysteine regulation. Absorption of vitamin B12 is facilitated by intrinsic factor, a natural protein produced by the parietal cells of the stomach lining. It may also be absorbed by an alternate mechanism without reliance on intrinsic factor when high amounts of 1,000 mcg or more are taken. Thus, individuals without adequate intrinsic factor can still obtain adequate amounts of B12 if extra amounts are ingested. Bypassing the gastric absoprtion is possible by taking sublingual B12 tablets.
- Active, coenzyme form: Blood levels of vitamin B12 are not always a reflection of tissue levels and a deficiency of the coenzyme forms might exist in tissues or other body fluids even if an adequate amount of cobalamin is present in circulation. Methylcobalamin is a body-ready form with metabolic benefits that may not be provided by other forms of vitamin B12. Although cyanocobalamin is the most commonly used form of vitamin B12 in dietary supplements, it must be converted by enzymes into an active coenzyme form to be useful. Nutritional inadequacies, enzyme defects, and tissue abnormalities can reduce the body’s ability to synthesize the active forms of B12.
- Great tasting, free of allergens: Active B12 sublingual tablets contain mannitol and xylitol as natural sweetening agents and natural cherry flavor. This product is free of the following common allergens: milk/ casein, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, corn, yeast, and soybeans. Contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. How should this product be used? Methylcobalamin can be used whenever a need for supplemental vitamin B12 exists. It may be particularly useful for individuals with impaired methylation capacity, including those with elevated homocysteine or neurological impairments. Of all the forms of vitamin B12, methylcobalamin appears best at supporting the unique metabolic biochemistry of children with regressive autism who often have impaired methylation chemistry and neurological function.

Questions on Active B12 5000 - 60 Lozenges
- Kids10/30/12 12:18 PM
- Hi
I have two copies of C677t. I am searching for a dr in my area. In the meantime, my guess would be that all my kids have at least one copy. I have three kids still at home - 11, 12, and 14. Would I start them with this or a multi?
Thanks,
Lisa Hi Lisa -
I recommend reading this article about MTHFR supplementation.
I recommend starting with the gut, limiting their exposures, improving their diet and introducing basic support.
If they are feeling overwell pretty well, then I recommend:- Optimal Multivitamin- ProBiota 12- Active B12 Lozenge with L-5-MTHF- Optimal Vitamin C Powder OR Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C- Vitamin D3

- Hi
- How to take 1000mcg10/30/12 9:18 PM
- Hi! In one of your videos, you say you start everyone on sublingual methylcobalamin about 1000mcg and increase every 3 days. How will I do this with a tablet thats 5000mcg? Do you break it daily? and it doesnt matter if its different doses everyday? I dont see a supplement of 500 mcg or 1000mcg.
Hello -
The sublingual methylcobalamin is quite easy to break into small pieces.
I actually don't start everyone on sublingual methylcobalamin at first. Sometimes I work on the gut first and then work towards the methyl deficiencies.
However, that aside, simply break the Active B12 5000 into fifths and place it between the teeth and lip allowing it to dissolve slowly.
Once you find how you tolerate it - and if you do tolerate it well, then move to the Active B12 Lozenge with L-5-MTHF and if you tolerate that well - move to HomocysteX and if you tolerate that well, move to HomocysteX Plus.
If you don't tolerate any of them, or only some of them, then you need to evaluate diet, lifestyle and environmental exposures - and other things such as additional genetic mutations possibly.

- magnesium stearate12/5/12 3:55 PM
- I'm not keen on products with magnesium stearate, do you have any other options here?
Thanks Hello -
Yes. Consider the Optimal Liposomal Vitamin B12 with L-5-MTHF.
There are 500 mcg of methylcobalamin and 50 mcg of L-5-MTHF in a liposomal base made from phosphatidylcholine.
I am not a fan of magnesium stearate also and am looking at ways to make sublinguals and tablets free of it. All our capsules, powders and liquids are free of magnesium stearate and titanium dioxides.
In products that are sublingual or chewable, I am ok with magnesium stearate as the saliva breaks it down and the absorption is still very high. In capsules or tablets, it is not as easy to break down magnesium stearate.
Regardless, I hope to have everything on Seeking Health free of magnesium stearate in 6 months.

- How much methyl b12 supplement should I give my autistic son12/21/12 11:41 AM
- I just purchased a methylb12 supplement for my 10 yr old autistic son. How much mg. should be good for him..
And he doesn't like it under his tongue, he chews and swallows it, is that ok? Hello -
I cannot answer how much he should take. It depends on so many factors.
If he chews and swallows it, he may not be getting the full benefit if his digestion is impaired.
You may want to consider the Active B12 Liposomal with L-5-MTHF as it is fine if it is swallowed. The small amount of L-5-MTHF along with the phospholipids may be beneficial to him. You can mix this in juice also if he doesn't like the taste. My kids are fine with the taste.

- My gastroenterologist suggested I try Zantac to reduce stomach acid which is causing a chronic cough. What form of Vitamin B12 do you suggest I take?
Hello -
Methylcobalamin is the most active form of vitamin B12 - thus it is the one I use and recommend.
I would also evaluate for food allergies and intolerances.
Consider eliminating foods which aggravate acid reflux or GERD:
- gluten, dairy, tomatoe, coffee, chocolate, spices
Please watch this video on acid reflux.
