| Q My 3 year old decided to give her brother some of his "candies" (colic tablets) while I was not watching? Should I be concerned with the amount that he was given? |
A Hi Kim -
A naturopathic physician should be able to answer this for you.
This is from Hylands:
"Q: How many tablets can you take in one day? Can you give them too many? How often can you give the tablets to the child?
A: You should follow the directions on the label. We recommend that you give your child 2 to 3 tablets at each dose. In many cases, you can give your child 2 to 3 tablets every 15 minutes for 2 hours. If you do not see improvement within 24-48 hours, stop giving the tablets and consult a licensed health care professional. It is virtually impossible to overdose on the tablets."
The tablets are made from lactose and contain a small amount of homeopathic in a low potency form.
Do take caution with homeopathic remedies in your home however. The lower the potency means the more it contains actual substance rather than energetics. Some homeopathics can be dangerous in low potencies if consumed in high amounts. These homeopathics are usually the ones made from toxic metals or toxins.
If you see your son acting in odd ways, please do consult with your physician.
My oldest son has also given 'candies' to his younger 2 yr old brother and no harm was done. These 'candies' were the Calm Forte Kids.
You can also contact Hylands directly and ask them. But I am sure they will have you speak with your doctor. The ingredients of Colic are at a 3x potency.
I hope this is helpful for you. Unfortunately I cannot say more than this as I cannot diagnose or suggest otherwise without a physical exam or questioning which is impossible over the internet...and illegal.
I wish you well. Careful with those 'candies' :)
