Product Description
Optimal Multivitamin by Seeking Health is a complete natural daily multivitamin and mineral supplement containing more than 50 nutritional ingredients, all in a special base of green superfoods and organic fruits and vegetables.
There are no gimmicks, no shortcuts, only researched nutrients that really make a difference. Simply put, Optimal Multivitamin from Seeking Health provides the nutrients you need for better health.
Optimal Multivitamin by Seeking Health has been carefully developed to contain the right proportions of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and other nutrients without danger of toxic build-up or other side effects. Since Optimal Multivitamin does not contain Iron, it is a good choice of multivitamin for men or women. If you are looking for a multivitamin for children, consider Kids Optimal Multivitamin by Seeking Health.
Each ingredient in this potent multivitamin formula is chosen with its absorbability, competitive relationship with other nutrients, allergenic potential, and long-term safety being taken into account. If your body is unable to absorb the nutrients in a multivitamin supplement, there’s no way your body can use them for better health.
Studies show that a high percentage of adults in the developed world eat less than the minimum daily allowance of 10 or more essential nutrients. Adequate amounts and proper balance of these nutrients are essential for:
- Healthy Immune System Function
- Cardiovascular health
- Digestive Health
- Improved Moods
- Increased Energy
- Daily Detoxification Support
Certain nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, and B-complex vitamins are included in high-potency amounts because of the vital roles they play in antioxidant protection, energy production, the maintenance of healthy blood cells, the nervous system, hormonal balance, and more. Minerals and trace elements are provided in the safest and most bioavailable forms, and the whole formula is encapsulated in easy to digest vegetarian capsules that are easier to absorb than compressed tablets.
Cheaper, less bioavailable nutrients in a multivitamin become money going down the drain. The type of multivitamin also makes a difference. Try dropping your multivitamin in water - and come back the next day - your multivitamin should be completely dissolved. If it does not - then this is similar to what it may be doing in your body. This is not the only way to test the quality of your multivitamin or mineral.
It does take eight capsules per day to make a complete serving. Some may ask "Are we Nuts?". In short, No! Dr Benjamin Lynch, ND founder and CEO of Seeking Health believes if you want to have an effective daily nutritional supplement without having to open 5 bottles or buy 5 other products, then you need to have a multivitamin with numerous capsules. This is more cost-effective, more preventative against disease and easier in the long run. If you go somewhere, you just need your Optimal Multivitamin, fish oil and vitamin D3, which is what you should aim for regarding daily nutrition.
Optimal Multivitamin by Seeking Health is also a potent antioxidant formula that includes natural beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, L-cysteine/N-acetyl-L-cysteine, lutein, lycopene, and red wine proanthocyanidins. This is an important addition to a daily vitamin and mineral supplement, since toxins in our everyday environment are as much of a factor in illness as nutritional deficiencies.

Questions on Optimal Multivitamin - 240 Vegetarian Capsules
- SeattleRain4/11/11 4:25 PM
- I see Optimal Multivitamin has 8 capsules per serving. I cannot take that many at a time. How do you recommend I take it?
- I personally take Optimal Multivitamin and find it to be the most effective and manageable when I split the 8 capsules in 3 doses. I take 3 capsules with breakfast, 3 capsules at lunch and the last two capsules around 2 pm to prevent the afternoon 'crash'. If I feel well at 2 pm, I do not take the other two capsules. Taking 3 capsules twice a day with food is great and the last two capsules may not be necessary; however, in order to obtain all the nutrients on the label, I recommend the method of 3:3:2. One may also take 4 capsules twice a day. Given that the nutrients in Optimal Multivitamin are well-absorbed, one should not experience stomach upset when taking this many capsules. However, if one has a sensitive stomach, do the 3:3:2 dosing of Optimal Multivitamin. Never take a multivitamin within 5 hours of going to bed as it can keep you awake due to the potent B vitamin mix.

- After my consult, I purchased the MultiVitamin, Vit D, NAC, Priobiata, and Fish Oil. I want to maximize the effect of these by taking them at the right time in the right combinations. Can you confirm if this MV and Vit D (both Seeking Health brands) can be taken together (because of no iron interaction) or should these be separated? If separated, can Vit D be taken with any of the others that I bought?
Thank you!! - Hello - I thank you for taking the intiative. I intended to write your follow up today here on the forum but you beat me to it Vitamin D3 can be taken any time of day with a snack or even alone. I do not recommend taking the D3 with Optimal Multivitamin due to the amount. The amount of D3 may interfere with the other fat soluble nutrients such as vitamin A, E and K. Here are my recommendations to get the best effects from the products you have: - Optimal Multivitamin by Seeking Health: Take 3 capsules with breakfast, 3 at lunch and 2 capsules around 2 or 3 PM with a snack. Do not take Optimal Multivitamin within 6 hours of going to sleep as it can keep you awake. - Vitamin D3 5,000 IU or Liquid Vitamin D360 by Seeking Health: During winter months, take 1 capsule of Vitamin D3 5,000 IU any time of the day with a small snack, with the Fish Oil, or with dinner. Do not take it alongside the Optimal Multivitamin due to the potency. During the summer months, take 1 drop of Vitamin D which equates to 2,000 IU per day. More later... Dr Ben

- Dr. Ben,
My husband asked me to get him a multivitamin that requires him taking it only once a day and possibly one pill only, what's your best suggestion?
- There is no such thing if he desires disease prevention and health. If taking a quality multivitamin multicapsule formula only once per day, the excess nutrients are not absorbed and they are discreeted by the body. This is expensive and a waste. If taking a one-a-day vitamin, this is insufficient as the nutrients are commonly trash, formulations are incomplete. If he wants to keep it simple and get the basic nutrients, I recommend B Complex Plus and Trace Mineral Complex. He can take these all at once in the morning with or without food and he is getting a pretty complete spectrum of nutrients. Take 1 capsule of Trace Mineral Complex and 1 capsule of B Complex Plus He can get vitamin D from the sun or from liquid D3 The capsule sizes of B Complex Plus and Trace Mineral Complex are not that huge making it easier to swallow. Vitamin C can be received from fruits Vitamin A can be received from carrots Vitamin E from healthy nuts and oils. He should find this recommendation pretty easy to do. He is not the only one with this request and understandably so. It is difficult for some to swallow pills and countless ones a day. In health, Dr Ben

- Dr. Ben,
- What does AMT stand for9/11/11 6:10 AM
- Do the AMT values relate to one capsule or to eight?9/19/11 4:30 PM
- Vitamin D and Vitamin K2/17/12 8:13 AM
- I just recently found you Dr Ben and am amazed by your research, passion, ability to effectively communicate and educate people, and how genuine you are in wanting to help people. It totally shows in your writings and videos. I’m hetero A1298C and am looking to start with a quality multi. I’m interested in purchasing your Optimal multi but have a few questions about it.
1) Would this be the best place for me to start or do you recommend doing testing prior to starting the multi? If testing first, is there a test that will help identify other supplements that I might need?
2) The Supplement facts state there is 200 of Vit D but if you click on the label it says there is 500 Vit D. Which one is correct?
3) In one of your prior Q&A responses about Optimal multi you mentioned, “I do not recommend taking the D3 with Optimal Multivitamin due to the amount. The amount of D3 may interfere with the other fat soluble nutrients such as vitamin A, E and K.” But, I don’t see Vit K in the product. Is there Vit K? I’ve heard that you need to take Vit K2 with Calcium. Is there truth to this?
I’ll do more reading on your blogs/forum to educate myself and will probably be asking more questions or might even schedule a consult.
Thanks for doing what you do.
- Hello - Thank you for the compliment - much appreciated ;) 1) Optimal Multivitamin is a pretty good place to start - as it contains numerous nutrients which are needed in order for the body to function well. It is also safe. If taking 3 capsules twice daily, you should experience improved well-being and energy without any side effects. I also highly recommend Vitamin D360 - 1,000 IU per 25 lbs of body weight - daily. Along with ProBiota 12 - one capsule after dinner. Along with Optimal Fish Oil - 2 capsules taken with any meal once daily. Those are the top recommendations for general health. If you are dealing with issues that are more intense, then other recommendations are likely needed- lifestyle, diet and nutrients. I don't recommend people do lab testing right away. I prefer they make some lifestyle, dietary and nutritional changes first and see how they do. If stuck, then we evaluate lab testing. 2) Thanks for catching that! There are 500 IU of vitamin D3 in 8 capsules. If you take less than 8 capsules, you receive less than that. We will fix that error! 3) The body has only a limited amount of receptors and the ability to absorb nutrients. If we take an overwhelming amount of nutrients at once, then you are making what I call 'expensive urine' because you simply urinate out the nutrients which cannot be absorbed. I like to optimize things - including absorption. This is why I recommend the Vitamin D360 liquid to be taken in the evening or anytime away from a comprehensive multivitamin. There is no vitamin K in Optimal Multivitamin - correct - I was listing off other fat soluble vitamins and was on a roll ;) It is recommended to take Vitamin K with calcium - correct. This is why you find vitamin K2 in Bone Nutrients. http://www.seekinghealth.com/bone-supplements-bone-healing-bone-nutrients.html Ask away ;) Best Dr Ben

- Are these safe to take while pregnant?3/20/12 2:40 PM
- I'm having a hard time finding a good prenatal vitamin. Does this multivitamin contain anything that might be problematic for pregnancy?
- Hello - Yes, this is safe to take while pregnant. You will need additional methylfolate and methylcobalamin; however - and additional Vitamin D3, calcium, magnesium. Consider taking 1/2 tablet of Active B12 with Methylfolate under the tongue in the morning upon waking: http://www.seekinghealth.com/sublingual-active-b12-metafolin-seeking-health.html Consider taking 3 drops daily of Vitamin D360 which provides 6,000 IU of vitamin D3: http://www.seekinghealth.com/vitamin-d-drops-liquid-vitamin-d360.html Additional calcium may be obtained from Chia Seeds: http://www.seekinghealth.com/chia-seeds.html 1 oz of Chia Seeds contain nearly 200 mg of calcium. It is best to make Chia Seed Gel for best absorption. Consider taking 1 capsule of Optimal Magnesium twice daily with meals: http://www.seekinghealth.com/optimal-magnesium-seeking-health.html Have a great pregnancy ;) In health, Dr Ben

- proanthocyanidins4/11/12 9:30 AM
- Do the red wine proanthocyanidins actually have red wine in them? We don't drink wine, etc., and I wouldn't want to take it in a supplement. Thank you!
- Hello - The red wine proanthocyanidins actually come from the skin and seeds of grapes. The proanthocyanidin compounds are extracted from the grapes using alcohol but there is no alcohol in the finished product. In health, Dr Ben

- Do these vitamins contain soy? I have hypothyroidism and have read to stay away from soy. Not sure if that means any type of soy or if maybe fermented would be ok, which is what I've seen in other multivitamins.
Hello -
The vitamin E is derived from soy - as most vitamin E's are. However, the amount of soy protein remaining in the vitamin E is next to nothing - if any.
A little bit of soy while hypothyroid is ok; a lot is not.
