NOTE: I meant to say Esophageal sphincter gets stretched out by too much food - not the pyloric. Esophageal sphincters, when stretched or loose, leak out stomach acid to the esophagus causing acid reflux or GERD.

Q. I have been suffering from Acid Reflux and Gastritis. Ive tried Manuka Honey which does help me plus ProBiota 12 Powder from the website . Is there something I'm doing wrong? Also my cholesterol numbers have been over 200 and cant seem to keep them at a normal range . The doctor tells me that it I have be taking cholesterol medication. I would rather go for natural products. Is there any suggestions that might help me?

A. For Gastritis: Have your physician test for Helicobacter pylori via the Urease Breath Test.

To support the healing of the stomach lining and intestinal lining which the gastritis is destroying, consider L-Glutamine Powder 1 by Seeking Health. In one liter of water, add 20 grams of L Glutamine and sip throughout the entire day between meals.

To further support the growth of healthy bacteria and the eradication of helicobacter pylori:

  • eat more garlic,
  • consider Zinc Carnosine3 as it shows promise in eliminating helicobacter pylori. Zinc Carnosine is found in GastroMend HP below.
  • ProBiota 12 Powder: as beneficial bacteria to support healthy bacterial colonies which reduce invasion from pathogenic harmful bacteria.
  • eat Manuka honey4 between meals
  • consider Gastric Repair Complex by Biogenesis or GastroMend HP by Designs for Health to support healthy tissue repair caused by the gastritis and reduce symptoms of burning and irritation caused by the acid reflux and GERD.

Continue Manuka honey between meals and the ProBiota 12 Powder after dinner. Make sure you take ProBiota 12 Powder after dinner and a potent dose of 1/2 teaspoon which is 200 billion beneficial bacteria.

Saccharomyces boulardii has also shown promise in eradicating H pylori alongside triple antibiotic therapy.1 Consider 1 capsule three times a day for two months then stop.

Once gastritis is healed and gone, and you still have acid reflux or GERD, then consider supplementing with PreGestion by Seeking Health during meals to assist the breakdown of your food by adding stomach acid. Increased stomach acid helps prevent helicobacter pylori from inhabiting the stomach lining as it does not like stomach acid.

For Acid Reflux, these suggestions may prove beneficial:

  1. Eat smaller, more frequent meals.
  2. Avoid spicy foods, gluten especially wheat, tomatoes, coffee, tea.
  3. Sleep with your bed elevated.
  4. Before meals, drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a half glass filtered water with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. SIP slowly. Once feeling of warmth begins, stop. Then eat.

You may also have a lower esophageal sphicter weakness. Have it examined by your physician. This may be fixed or improved by a chiropractor or other health professional who is skilled in soft tissue manipulation. Ask your doctor for a referral to a chiropractor or craniosacral professional who is experienced in hiatal hernia adjustments - if this is what is causing GERD or Acid Reflux.

High Cholesterol: hard to say without seeing HDL and LDL levels.

Reduce your risk of atherosclerosis by having your physician test for Homocysteine, CRPhs and 5-MTHFR gene mutation.

To support a healthy cardiovascular system, consider supplementing with:

  • HomocysteX by Seeking Health to reduce levels of homocysteine,
  • Flow Fx by Seeking Health to reduce leves of fibrin and
  • Active CoQH, soy free 50 mg Ubiquinol, by Seeking Health to provide antioxidants and support cardiovascular health.
  • Optimal Fish Oil Liquid or Fish Oil capsules: to support healthy cholesterol levels by providing EPA and DHA while supporting the reduction of inflammation.
