Optimal Krill Oil

Product Description

Searching for a pure and powerful source of essential fatty acids without the burps? Seeking Health has increased the amount of astaxanthin in Optimal Krill Oil from its original 1.5 mg to an impressive 12 mg per serving. Studies suggest that this exceptionally high level of astaxanthin offers an array of therapeutic benefits, which may include:

  • Antioxidant protection
  • Cardiovascular health – helping to promote healthy lipid profiles; potential anti–hypertensive
  • Sports performance – reducing exercise–induced muscle damage and increasing endurance
  • Eye support – Reducing eye fatigue and improving visual acuity
  • Supporting skin health – protecting against aging as a result of UVA exposure, such as skin sagging and wrinkles
  • Anti–inflammatory
  • Gastric health support – helping to reduce gastric inflammation and reflux symptoms

It would take 8 conventional krill softgels to equal the astaxanthin levels in just 1 capsule of Optimal Krill Oil!

What are Krill?
Krill are tiny crustaceans found in the sea and make up the world's largest animal biomass. The oil extracted from krill is rich in the omega–3 fatty acids EPA and DHA bound to highly unsaturated phospholipids, closely resembling human brain phospholipids. These phospholipids – phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylethanolamine – are essential to life and are a major component of cell membranes, functioning as cell messengers and as carriers of EPA and DHA, providing a fast and effective delivery of these omega–3s.

Seeking Health's improved Optimal Krill Oil has a high phospholipid content, standardized to a minimum of 40% phospholipids, mostly as phosphatidylcholine. This updated version is considered to be a virgin krill oil, the purest form available, with higher phospholipid bioavailability, enhancing the absorption of one of krill's shining features, the powerful antioxidant astaxanthin.

Astaxanthin, the carotenoid from the microalgae, haematococcus pluvialis, is a staple of krill's diet and gives them and other crustaceans their vibrant pink color.

AstaREAL® – the best Astaxanthin available!
Our improved Optimal Krill Oil's astaxanthin now comes from both, naturally occurring levels found in krill oil and from AstaREAL®, a registered brand of astaxanthin extracted directly from microalgae using a solvent–free technology that ensures maximum control and purity. AstaREAL® astaxanthin is the most studied astaxanthin in the world with over 40 clinical studies, both animal and human.

Optimal Krill Oil's Powerful Antioxidant Formula
In addition to its rich phospholipids, omega–3s, and astaxanthin, Optimal Krill Oil also naturally contains several other antioxidants including, canthaxanthin, beta–carotene, vitamin E and trans–retinol vitamin A. These antioxidants offer additional protection from damaging free radicals and also protect this nutrient–dense oil from oxidation.

Seeking Health's Optimal Krill Oil is made using a unique cold–extraction process that converts it into stable oil. This process protects the lipids from alteration and avoids peroxidation. It is highly purified and free of heavy metals and organohalide pollutants. This product does not cause reflux or regurgitation commonly experienced by those consuming regular fish oil supplements.

  • Fish Oil7/20/11 10:25 AM
    • what's the difference between this fish oil and the other ones you have??? Which one do u suggest???
    • Optimal Krill Oil has 12 mg of Astaxanthin which is a potent antioxidant. Research also shows excellent results from taking Krill Oil for many conditions. The difference is Krill Oil's EPA/DHA absorbs better than the EPA/DHA from Fish Oils. The body preferentially absorbs it. You can see the amount of EPA/DHA in Optimal Krill Oil is considerably less than Optimal Fish Oil capsules. However, given the preferential absorption by the body of Krill Oil, this is ok. I will have to do a podcast and research summary to show you the difference scientifically rather than just answering like this. I have put it on my 'to-do' list. I stay current with the research which is why I developed Optimal Krill Oil; however, I am also old-fashioned and see the amazing results from Fish Oils. So, I offer both as I see benefit from both. I would experiment and see how you feel. Try Optimal Fish Oil for a few months and then switch to Optimal Krill Oil for a few months and see if there is any difference. The added Astaxanthin in Optimal Krill Oil though is a definite plus over Optimal Fish Oil. Astaxanthin is very powerful and Optimal Krill Oil has a LOT of it compared to other Krill Oils. Most Krill Oils only have about 2 mg at the most. Optimal Krill Oil has 12 mg of Astaxanthin. Here are some studies demonstrating the benefits of Astaxanthin: Astaxanthin: A Potential Therapeutic Agent in Cardiovascular Disease http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3083660/pdf/marinedrugs-09-00447.pdf High Dose Astaxanthin Lowers Blood Pressure and Increases Insulin Sensitivity in Rats: Are These Effects Interdependent? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3039228/pdf/ijmsv08p0126.pdf Astaxanthin decreased oxidative stress and inflammation and enhanced immune response in humans. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2845588/pdf/1743-7075-7-18.pdf In the end, for long term use, I would likely say use Optimal Krill Oil. In the beginning though, since most American diets are so low in EPA/DHA, I say start off with Optimal Fish Oil until you are able to get at least 2 grams of EPA/DHA from your diet alone. Standard American Diets have about 0.7 grams of EPA/DHA. Further questions, please do ask. In health, Dr Ben

  • Does Krill oil contain fish?3/1/12 2:09 PM
    • On your site I checked the box for items "not containing fish" since I am allergic to fish. Krill oil came up on the product list and I saw that the source is listed as "crustaceans". I am not allergic to crustaceans and am desperately in need of an omega-3 source! However, in the info box at the bottom, it does list a warning if you are allergic to fish. Do you think I would be able to use this product? The cost of the product is prohibitive to me just ordering it and trying it.
    • Krill do survive in the same environment as fish do, it is actually what fish eat. They are 3x as high in Omega 3. Because it is one of the main part of a fish's diet you may want to see if they are something you are allergic to as well.

  • Krill OIl and Heparin?4/30/12 10:58 AM
    • What are your thoughts on taking krill oil (or fish oil) while on heparin (5000 units 2x/day) while pregnant?
    • Hello -

I know some doctors are not keen on people taking fish oil while taking Heparin but some are ok with it. Your doctor will have to make that recommendation for you.

Krill Oil contains less EPA/DHA than fish oil so it is likely ok while taking Hepain - however - you are going to have to ask your doctor.

Wish I could be more helpful here ;)

      In health,

      Dr Ben
