Product Description
Why choose Strontium by Seeking Health?
Research in humans has documented significant clinical benefits of strontium in people with osteoporosis or at high risk for bone fracture. In one group of postmenopausal women, strontium supplementation significantly increased levels of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase and diminished levels of the bone resorption marker C-telopeptide cross-linked collagen. In another trial, histomorphometric analysis of iliac crest samples obtained from 133 osteoporotic women treated with strontium showed significant improvements in cortical and trabecular microarchitecture compared to samples from women treated with placebo. Two large, multinational studies involving over 6,000 women have assessed the long-term efficacy and safety of strontium administration. In the Spinal Osteoporosis Therapeutic Intervention (SOTI) trial, 1,649 postmenopausal women with a history of at least one osteoporotic fracture were randomized to receive either 680 mg/day of strontium (as strontium ranelate) or placebo. After 4 years, bone mineral density significantly increased in both lumbar vertebrae and the femoral neck; body height reduction was decreased by a mean of 2.1 mm; and risk of new vertebral fracture was reduced by 33-36% in the strontium group compared to the placebo group. The Treatment of Peripheral Osteoporosis Study (TROPOS) utilized the same dose and form of strontium for 5 years in over 5,000 postmenopausal women at high risk for osteoporotic fracture.
Strontium by Seeking Health is intended for persons who desire additional support for bone health and protection against bone loss. Clinical studies suggest perimenopausal women at higher risk of experiencing an osteoporotic fracture may benefit the most from Strontium.
What makes Strontium by Seeking Health superior to other bone support supplements on the market?
Strontium by Seeking Health offers a safe and convenient way of supplementing with this osteogenic element. Each hypoallergenic, gelatin-free capsule provides 300 mg of strontium in a stable and bioavailable citrate form.Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, take 1-2 capsules per day, or as directed by a healthcare provider. For best results, take separately from dairy products or calcium-containing supplements as strontium and calcium compete for absorption sites within the intestinal tract.
Drug Interactions: Divalent cations such as strontium may form complexes with tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics and reduce their absorption, therefore simultaneous administration of Strontium and these medications should be avoided.
Adverse Reactions Strontium is excreted by the kidneys and can accumulate to unhealthy levels in the serum and tissues of persons with impaired renal function. Significantly elevated levels of serum creatine phosphokinase have also been reported in persons taking strontium ranelate. These elevations are transient and not accompanied by muscular symptoms, thus their clinical relevance is unclear. A European Medicines Agency (EMA) review of clinical trial data reported a slight increase in the incidence of venous thromboembolism in persons taking strontium ranelate (2.7% vs. 1.9% for placebo; RR=1.4). This was not statistically significant. As strontium is not known to influence hemostasis, a metabolic basis for strontium-induced thromboembolic events cannot be provided. The EMA review also noted a number of incidences of severe hypersensitivity reactions in persons taking strontium ranelate in post-marketing surveillance. It may be that ranelate is responsible for the allergic reactions. A subsequent independent review of the data published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology failed to find a link between strontium use and venous thromboembolic events or hypersensitivity reactions.
Contraindications Persons with a history of kidney disease, those taking tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, and pregnant or nursing women should consult with a healthcare professional before using Strontium. Do not use this product if you have known allergies or sensitivities to any of its ingredients.
