Dirty Genes™ - DAO Support

Your DAO gene is known as ‘Oversensitivity to Foods.’ The job of your DAO gene is to produce the DAO enzyme which metabolizes histamine from foods, drinks, and your microbiome. If your DAO gene is dirty, you’re more susceptible to histamine-containing foods and drinks. The increased histamine combined with a dirty DAO gene may contribute to things like a red face after exercise or eating/drinking, itchy skin, irritability, difficulty falling asleep, headaches, and increased sweating.

To help clean a dirty DAO, one may initially limit consuming histamine-containing foods and drinks such as wine, fermented foods (kimchi, sauerkraut, pickles), aged meat (salami, pepperoni), and aged foods (cheese, yogurt, kefir, leftovers).

One may supplement directly with the DAO enzyme found in Histamine Block. This is incredibly handy if one wishes to consume foods or drinks with histamine.*

If one has a dirty DAO, they should limit probiotics with histamine-producing strains and focus on histamine-balancing strains found in ProBiota HistaminX.*

Reading Dirty Genes and following the Soak and Scrub Method is the most thorough way to clean your dirty DAO gene. Since methylation helps eliminate histamine, focus on reading the MTHFR and DAO chapters. Following the recipes in Dirty Genes to support your DAO gene is very effective. Supplements are simply a way to Spot Clean your dirty DAO.
