Who Needs Optimal DHA

Are you planning a pregnancy? Or would you like to support your own cognitive health (memory, vocabulary, focus)?

DHA may be one of the most important fatty acids for optimal brain health and development. And it may be difficult to obtain adequate amounts and clean sourcing from your food!

Optimal DHA softgels contain a high serving of 676 mg of concentrated and readily absorbed DHA per single softgel serving.

DHA plays vital roles in fetal and infant brain health and development. DHA plays a role in the parts of the brain that control mental, psychomotor, visual, developmental, and vocabulary.

However as we age, levels of DHA decline, and supplementation with DHA may help to support healthy cognition, including healthy memory and a healthy mood!

This highly absorbable monoglyceride fish oil supplement has been designed to provide better absorption than other fish oils, and is IFOS certified to ensure standards for purity and quality have been met.

Take care of your brain, especially as you age, as it provides you with your cognitive abilities that you need to take on the day!

Customer Review

overall good health

I was looking for a good DHA product, and I found it at Seeking Health. I take Optimal DHA for my heart, brain, eye function, and immune system. I like the balance of DHA to EPA in this product and also that there is no corn, soy, gluten or other compromising ingredients. I have not experienced any after taste at all after swallowing the softgels. ~Kathleen N.

Key Ingredients In Optimal DHA

  • MaxSimil® DHA Fish Oil Concentrate: Provides the omega-3 fatty acid, DHA, which is important for healthy inflammatory processes, cognition, joints, and immune health. This is a monoglyceride form of DHA, meaning that is “predigested” for optimal absorption.

Why Optimal DHA Works

Humans lack the enzyme necessary to make Omega 3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are used by the body to allow for membranes to be fluid. This in turn makes receptors and other proteins work efficiently and effectively whether they pertain to thyroid function, insulin activity, brain function, or immune activity.

Omega 3’s also play a role in becoming cell communication molecules that allow immune cells to “talk” with one another.

When there are adequate levels of Omega 3 Fatty Acids present, the type of communication that occurs between immune cells is less volatile than the communication from cells that are low in Omega 3’s. It appears that DHA in particular has the capacity to support balanced immune signals that modulate healthy inflammation.

DHA also has been shown to support a normal healthy inflammation process by modulating the effects of the master switch of inflammation called NFkB. The brain is specifically rich in DHA and higher levels of DHA have been associated with supporting cognitive function.

How to Enhance Optimal DHA

1

Consider Pulsing

Dr. Ben Lynch recommends using certain dietary supplements based on your need for them. Start with a partial serving and increase slowly over time to the full serving, only if needed. When you start feeling good, consider reducing the serving size, skipping days, or pausing supplementation. Then take again when you feel you need it (stressful day, traveling, chemical exposure, etc.), hence "pulsing." Work with your qualified healthcare practitioner to determine what's best for you.

2

Pairs Well With

Optimal Electrolyte is suggested by Dr. Lynch because if you are not hydrated, you will not absorb nutrients into your cells! Consider Optimal CoQ10 for additional cardiovascular support. Consider Optimal Liposomal Curcumin to provide further inflammatory response and brain health support.

3

Clean Your Genes

After years of suffering from unexplainable health issues, Dr. Ben Lynch, ND discovered the root cause - "dirty" genes. FAQs for Optimal DHA

What is the purpose of each ingredient in Optimal DHA?

Ingredients Purpose
MaxSimil® DHA Fish Oil Concentrate DHA is the most abundant structural fatty acid in the eyes, brain, and central nervous system and plays important roles in their normal development

Is the source of Optimal DHA fish oil clean and tested?

Yes and Seeking Health Optimal DHA is certified by IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards). Launched in 2004, IFOS provides a way for companies to test their products to the highest quality, safety, and purity standards in the world. Products that get IFOS-certified are typically omega-3 supplements like fish oil. They are tested against standards for:

Active Ingredient Content – Does the product contain the amount and specific types of omega-3s the label says it should?

Too often, the amount of active ingredients listed on the label doesn’t match what is actually inside the product. Too low, and it may not be effective. Too high, and it could be unsafe for consumption.

This is especially common with omega-3 supplements. Some brands will claim to have certain quantities of EPA and DHA in them when the capsules contain another (usually cheaper to manufacture) type of omega-3 altogether.

IFOS provides you with peace of mind so you can easily find products that deliver what the label promises.

  • Contaminants - Does the product contain unsafe levels of harmful chemicals? This certification ensures that the product contains the lowest levels of contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins and furans, dioxin-Like PCBs, mercury, lead, cadmium, and inorganic arsenic. Why are these chemicals found in fish oil in the first place? They enter the environment from industrial activity and persist for a long time, bioaccumulating in large fatty fish. This means that oil derived from these fish could contain too-high concentrations of contaminants. There’s no way to tell if your supplement is contaminated just by looking at it, or even by reading the label (companies typically only have to show testing documentation to sell legally, and there’s no guarantee of accuracy or legitimacy). Only laboratory testing can tell you for certain.

  • Stability - Is the product as fresh as possible, or has it gone bad (oxidized)? An omega-3 supplement that has “gone bad,” whether from poor handling by the manufacturer or passing its expiration date, is ineffective at best. Worse, it could be unsafe to consume.

Stability, also known as shelf-life, refers to how quickly and easily a product will deteriorate under normal storage conditions. Spoiled products may have an unpleasant fishy taste or smell, but this is not always the case, especially for encapsulated products. Why is stability a problem for omega-3 products? Similar to how a cut apple turns brown when exposed to oxygen, oil-based ingredients are naturally prone to oxidation. This means that fish oil that has been exposed to unsuitable conditions at any point in the supply chain, such as high temperatures or excess humidity, could be spoiled or rancid by the time it makes it to the shelf.

IFOS takes the burden off you by testing products for stability to make sure they are as fresh and shelf-stable as possible. Stability results are shown in IFOS Product Reports so that you can rest easy knowing you are not wasting money on a spoiled product.

Who is Optimal DHA intended for?

If you have a brain or eyes, you want to seriously consider Optimal DHA, especially if you are not a fan of eating cold-water fish. DHA is an essential component of your eye and brain health.

If you’re a woman wanting to become a mother or breastfeeding, Optimal DHA is important to use especially because fish consumption is often something women are concerned about due to higher heavy metal content and other contaminants, and low-mercury fish may be harder to find. DHA is very important for your developing baby’s brain. Optimal DHA is tested and IFOS certified ensuring purity, potency, and freshness.

If you’re a man wanting to become a father, Optimal DHA is a must for you. DHA is found in high amounts in healthy sperm. Over 50% of infertility cases are due to male infertility and a common issue in men is poor sperm health.

Children are developing their brains and eyes so Optimal DHA is very important for them to use especially if they are not eating cold-water fish. This product is suitable for children 4 years of age and older unless otherwise recommended by a qualified physician.

Love this product

My doctor originally had me taking another dha to up my levels, since my oat test showed I was extremely low in this area, but I reacted so bad to it. Dizziness, tired, joint pain: I decided to return to the company I trust most. I have gone through a months supply with no nasty fish burps. I’m very confident this product will get me to where I need to be, and hopefully be able to maintain once I am able to tolerate actual fish again. The pills are about large, but pretty normal for fish oils. They were easy to swallow and had no reactions. I’m back to buy another bottle.
