Vitamin D Supplements

Vitamin D does many things for us. It supports strong bones by supporting calcium absorption, healthy fetal development, healthy serotonin levels, healthy blood sugar, muscle function, the immune system, cardiovascular health, and healthy blood pressure to name a few.

Vitamin D is an essential fat-soluble vitamin that your body can make from sun exposure. However, just because you’re in the sun does not mean that you will get enough vitamin D.

Vitamin D is an essential fat-soluble vitamin that your body can make from sun exposure. However, just because you’re in the sun does not mean that you will get enough vitamin D. Many factors are involved in making enough vitamin D. Such factors are our age, weight, skin color, body composition, location in the world and time of day. The darker your skin, older you are, higher your body fat percentage, and lower the sun is in the sky, the less vitamin D you’re able to generate from sunlight. Obviously, sunscreen and clothing also reduce vitamin D synthesis.

Since so many people have indoor jobs or are in areas where the sun doesn’t generate much vitamin D, vitamin D supplements are highly recommended.

Vitamin D supplements have been clinically-tested and researched heavily. The National Library of Medicine has nearly 95,000 research papers on vitamin D!

What about vitamin K2 and vitamin D3? Great question. Vitamin D3 supports calcium absorption. Vitamin K2 supports calcium deposition into bones. If one is low in vitamin K2 and takes vitamin D3 supplements, calcium levels may increase in the bloodstream. You want to move that calcium into your bones and vitamin K supports that.

It’s important to know that you can take vitamin K2 any time. For example, if you’re taking a Seeking Health multivitamin, you’re getting vitamin K2 as MK7. MK7 has a half-life of 2 to 3 days. Thus, you can take vitamin D3 alone without vitamin K2.

What about magnesium and vitamin D3? Many talk about needing magnesium for optimal vitamin D absorption and utilization. You do not have to take magnesium at the same time as you take vitamin D supplement. Magnesium has a half life of over 1,000 days or 42 days! So supplement with Optimal Electrolyte or our other magnesium supplements to support healthy magnesium levels.

You can get vitamin D from sunlight at the right time of day and year, from certain foods and from supplements. If your levels of vitamin D are low, your health care provider may recommend additional vitamin D supplementation. Seeking Health offers vitamin D3 alone or in combination with vitamin K2.

Our best-selling vitamin D supplement is Vitamin D Drops which provide 2,000 IU (international units) in a single drop and 60,000 IU in a single dropperful.
