Optimal Prenatal Capsules by Seeking Health provide a comprehensive prenatal formula with a unique blend of amino acids, chelated minerals, and vitamins designed to meet the high nutritional needs of women who are pregnant or preparing for pregnancy. While this nutrient blend is specifically formulated to support healthy fetal development and prenatal nutrition, Optimal Prenatal Capsules may also be taken whenever the supplemental need for a potent and pure multivitamin exists.*

This complex formula is made with careful consideration for not only the increased demand for certain nutrients, but also for digestive sensitivity that can occur during pregnancy. This product contains L-5-MTHF, the most biologically available form of folate, which is essential to support healthy cognitive development. Optimal Prenatal also provides folinic acid, a non-methylated form of folate that can be easily converted to coenzyme forms within the body. This optimal blend of folates may work in conjunction with amino acids, chelated minerals, and other B vitamins to support normal cell growth and cardiovascular, neurologic and immune health.*

Optimal Prenatal Capsules also contain two active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12: methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, which may help support healthy fetal development, energy metabolism and the methylation process. The well-balanced vitamin B complex is complete with active forms of riboflavin and B6, plus additional biotin to support healthy growth and development. Biotin may also help support healthy skin, hair and nails. Both vitamin B6 and ginger extract are special features of this formula, supporting digestive comfort.*

Vitamin A is included in two forms: beta-carotene and retinyl palmitate, to help support those who have trouble converting “provitamin A” compounds (such as beta-carotene) into the active retinyl/retinol forms. Vitamin C and coenzyme Q10 provide antioxidant support, supporting a healthy immune system and cellular integrity. Red raspberry leaf has historically been used as a tonic for pregnant women to help support circulation, uterine comfort and digestion. Trace minerals are included in their chelated forms, as amino acid-chelated minerals are typically well-absorbed and may be more easily tolerated than alternative supplemental forms. Betaine HCl is also added to support healthy digestion and optimize absorption of nutrients.*

Optimal Prenatal does NOT include iron as some women do not process iron well or do not need iron supplementation. If iron supplementation is needed, consider Optimal Iron Plus Cofactors; for a gentle, well-absorbed chelated iron.*

For those who have trouble swallowing capsules, consider our great-tasting, naturally flavored Optimal Prenatal Chewable or Optimal Prenatal Protein Powder – available in creamy vanilla or chocolate.

Suggested Use

Take 8 capsules daily, with a meal, in divided doses, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Do not take within 5 hours of bedtime.

Worth it
These are hard to swallow (smelly), but I have found that taking them with juice helps a little. I love the formula, though I wish they would put it in a capsule that wasn't so wretched. Review by Julie (Posted on 9/9/2014)
Great multivitamin
Since taking the multivitamin, I have noticed positive changes like increased circulation, more energy, and better sleep. I will say that when starting out on the multivitamin to go slowly. If you have MTHFR mutations, your methylation cycle is probably sluggish, so taking too much of the active form of folate could cause some negative side effects like irritability, insomnia, sore muscles, achy joints, acne, rash, severe anxiety, palpitations, nausea, headaches, and migraines. I had headaches and irritability and extreme tiredness when first starting. You have to remember that once your methylation cycle (MTHFR) is getting what it needs to function, your body has a lot of junk to clear out. Going too fast can put your body under too much stress which can cause negative side effects.

Overall I highly recommend this product. It is one that I think every woman of reproductive age should take. It takes several months to work up to the recommended dosage, so you will definitely want to change to this prenatal at least 6-9 months before trying to conceive.

Great formula
I trust this product. I'm in the 2nd trimester by now. Review by Hedi (Posted on 8/6/2014)
Great vitamin
I have been taking this for several months and have enjoyed the changes I have observed, I am less tired, need less sleep, and when I do have less sleep I am not cranky in the morning. I attribute part of it to this vitamin as well as the B vitaminsI am taking form Seeking Health.

Optimal Prenatal
I recently found out I have the MTHFR mutation, I switched to this product to help prepare me as I am trying to get pregnant. I have been taking it for about 3 months. I'm not pregnant yet, but feel I have more energy and just feel better after changing to this prenatal. I know this is helping me get ready to get pregnant, hopefully soon! I started taking Optimal Prenatal as preparation to get pregnant, and during my pregnancy. I am MTHFR A1298C and I was looking for folate containing prenatal.
The capsuls are very big, but I get used to it. This supplement helped my body to get pregnant.

Best multivitamin, smells good.
This vitamin was suggested to me in an article about the mhftr mutation and the specific nutrition those with the mutation need. It also has the higher B vitamins I need for my migraine disease and red raspberry leaf for my painful periods. This prenatal smells great and I enjoy taking them. The capsules the powder comes in sticks in my throat so I have to take care in swallowing one at a time with plenty of water and a few bites to eat afterwards. This supplement has helped so much with my painful periods. I highly recommend this product and am totally bummed out that it is out of stock right now. Review by Micah'sMommy (Posted on 3/29/2014)
it works!!!!
I have been taking these for months leading up to our fourth IVF, FET round and this time my uterine lining was the thickest it's ever been and my RE told me it looked great! I also eat very healthy/clean and exercise regularly so when you couple a healthy lifestyle with a good quality prenatal you get results!!! Order number 1310027865 Review by Mel (Posted on 3/4/2014)
preparation for pregnancy
I started taking this once I found out I had the MTHFR mutation. I am taking these as preparation for my body to get pregnant. I have found that since being on them, I have not gotten sick. I have felt low energy when others have gotten sick. In the past I would have gotten sick and stayed sick.

Great product
I have taken many prenatal Vitamins over my last 4 pregnancies, but sure like this one the best. Even though the amount of pills is high and at times paired with a light odor hard to take- the purity and active forms of nutrients outweigh these inconveniences. Especially if you have MTHFR!

Made me feel so much better!
I have Hemochromatosis and was advised by my doctor to find a prenatal without iron. That's hard to find! This vitamin meets that criteria and even more. My queasiness went away at 7 weeks when I started on this vitamin, and I gained some energy back. I love that it has Betaine HCl in it - I do feel that it helped me absorb the nutrients better. The pills do have a bit of a smell, but not nearly as bad as some other things I have taken. I was able to cut out some other vitamins and minerals I was taking because this one has them in abundance, so even though there are 8 daily pills, I actually reduced the total number of pills I'm taking by switching to this prenatal. SO GLAD to have found it! Order ID 1310019659. Review by Casey (Posted on 11/13/2013)
Not so good for who has morning sickness
This formula has it all, not too much vit A, good form of B vitamins, folate, choline, iodine and other great ingredients for prenatal care. However, it is a huge capsule, with terrible smell and you have to take 8 after meals and not 5 hours before going to sleep. So that leaves you with about ten hours to take 8 big smelly capsules with meals. Not such a good combination for pregnant women with morning sickness. I can see how we put our baby's health in first place, but when you are feeling sick, these are tough to swallow. I have switched to a regular prenatal vitamin that I take once a day and I take one extra methylfolate because I have MTHFR mutation. I will try to get back to this vitamin in the second trimester. Review by Regina (Posted on 10/12/2013)
well rounded prenatal
I have been searching for prenatal with higher iodine, choline and b-vitamins as well as proper form of folate for MTHFR mutation. Review by karen s (Posted on 8/28/2013)
