Product Description

Looking for natural stress relief? Ashwagandha, also known as winter cherry, is an herb that has been used to promote vitality, longevity, and energy in Ayurvedic medicine. The active compounds in Ashwagandha provide a wide range of benefits and may be useful in cases of:

  • Decreased immune function
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Chronic stress
  • High cholesterol
  • Hypothyroidism

The active withanolide compounds in Ashwagandha function as precursors to human physiologic hormones and assists the body in its ability to withstand stress. Ashwagandha Extract by Seeking Health is formulated with a standardized ashwagandha extract that provides a potent dose of the active ingredients in the plant, free from preservatives, fillers, flow agents, or allergens.

Benefits of Ashwagandha Extract:

Supports adrenal gland function: improves the body’s capacity to adapt to various forms of physical and emotional stress such as mental or emotional upset, excessive exercise, chemical exposure, and other forms of chronic stress.

Boosts antioxidant defenses: Free radicals are thought to be a cause of oxidative cell damage associated with aging and chronic disorders. Ashwagandha protects against oxidation by chemically neutralizing these potentially harmful molecules, enabling the body to better heal and support itself against molecular and cellular damage.

Protects cognitive function: Studies have shown that ashwagandha has the ability to decrease the release of cortisol during stress. Cortisol is an adrenal hormone that has been linked with free radical-induced damage to nerve cells, which over time, can result in cognitive decline with age. Ashwagandha’s ability to decrease the release of cortisol and neutralize free radicals may help protect neuronal cell health and produce a slowing down or improvement in mild memory problems.

Provides added benefits: Ashwagandha is also associated with enhanced energy metabolism, healthy immune responses, and favorable actions on regulating inflammatory response mechanisms.

  • Is this Safe-Ashwagandha Extract8/16/12 3:36 AM
    • Hi I was curious is this safe to take while breastfeeding a 4 1/2 month old? And is so will it help in weight loss. Is there anything else that would be completely safe to take while nursing? Thank you
    • Hello -

Ashwagnadha is safe to take in low amounts while breastfeeding. You may take a capsule twice daily.

You may also take 1 capsule of CLA with lunch while breastfeeding.

You may also take Whey Slim - 1 to 2 scoops daily - to support healthy weight.

While you are breastfeeding, it is not an ideal time to lose too much weight. Losing some is ok - but do not expect to be at your pre-pregnancy weight while breastfeeding. This is not a good idea as it will cause you to lose your milk production.

The products suggested above will help optimize and balance your weight. You may find yourself losing weight - but again - do not lose too much at this time.

  • How long should it take to feel the effects of ashwagandha10/24/12 5:16 PM
    • Dr. Ben,

How long should it take to feel the effects of ashwagandha if suffering from anxiety/stress and not sleeping well at night? In other words, does it need to build up in the body for awhile or should you feel better after a few days. I see some comments that some people take 2 pills a day as opposed to 1 a day which is what is recommend on the site. What do you recommend? Will this product help with sleep or can you recommend another one of your products for sleep?

      Thank you,

      VMckenna
    • Hello -

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen - meaning it helps the body adapt to stressors.

Some people feel the effects right away and some take a bit longer.

One may take 2 capsules of Ashwagandha twice daily if needed. The people who shoud not take more than 1 to 2 capsules a day of Ashwagandha are those with hyperthyroidism or Graves.

Helping with sleep can be complex. It depends where in your sleep cycle you are having issues - falling asleep, middle of the night waking or not sound sleep. Recommendations vary based on these.

      To start, consider:

      - Ashwagandha: 2 capsules twice daily- Magnesium Plus: 1 capsule in the AM with breakfast and 1 before bed- Protein snack 20 minutes before bed- Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C: 1 tsp three times daily
