- I read that Betaine can interact with thyroid medication. I am on synthroid. Would the amount in Optimal iron cause a problem? Or is there another iron you would recommend?

The Betaine is Optimal Iron Plus Cofactors is designed to assist in absorption of the iron. The amount of betaine is designed to assist in stomach acid; not detoxification.
It is ok to take Optimal Iron Plus Cofactors while taking Synthroid.
Please note that all thyroid medications should be taken away from food, meds and supplements - and as directed by your doctor.

- I have had gastric bypass for weight loss and am always iron deicient . I have a very hard time getting a supplement that my system can absorb and not upset my system.

I suspect that Optimal Iron Plus Cofactors may work well for you. I have added some digestive enzyme support and necessary cofactors for optimal iron absorption.
Do try 1 capsule away from food first.
If that does not work well for you, try 1 capsule with food.
Iron should be taken away from food for best absorption; however, if you don't tolerate it, simply eat a few bites of food first. Do not eat an entire meal.
Iron loves an acidic environment for best absoprtion - this is why it is best to take it away from food.
