Key Benefits and Actions

  • Supports healthy liver metabolism of estrogens
  • Supports detoxification and elimination
  • Supports healthy inflammatory responses and cellular defenses

Who Needs DIM + I3C

Are you exposed to plastics, conventional meat and dairy, or conventional household products on a regular basis?

All of these have one thing in common - they contain chemicals that may harm human cells and promote free radicals in the body. In the presence of free radicals, estrogenic activity and estrogen metabolism are influenced. Toxin exposure typically affects the endocrine system by increasing estrogen production or estrogen activity. This is called estrogen dominance. The effects of estrogen in high quantities in the body should not be overlooked.

Do you have estrogen dominance? Are you concerned about supporting a healthy hormone balance?

DIM+I3C is a targeted formula that supports healthy estrogen metabolism and a healthy oxidative stress responses associated with xenoestrogen exposure.

DIM (diindolylmethane) is a byproduct of I3C (indole-3-carbinol), a compound found in broccoli, cabbage and cruciferous vegetables. Both DIM and I3C are dietary indoles, which support normal processing of estrogen metabolites.

A healthy balance between steroid hormones is vital. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and other adrenal hormones and sex hormones (androgens) are incredibly important for reproductive health, sexual health, and overall vitality. However, when estrogen levels get too high from toxin exposure, liver overload, or the use of prescriptions, other important hormones can drop to dangerously low levels. This can put adrenal health, emotional health, and female menses cycles in danger.

PQQ (from Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium Salt) is added to support healthy oxidation of free radicals due to xenoestrogen (chemical estrogen mimickers) exposure and higher estrogen overall. Oxidative stress due to free radicals has a wide impact on all epigenetic controls. Keeping these balanced helps to support the healthy expression of hormone balancing and detoxification genes. Hormones are such a large factor in mental well-being, as they play a part in neurotransmitter balance and feelings of joy.

DIM + I3C can specifically support healthy estrogen metabolism in individuals with high estrogen exposure. The incidence of higher estrogen may be more prevalent in the following individuals:

  • Those exposed to toxins and free radicals
  • Those with a change in menopausal status
  • Those on hormonal therapy
  • Premenopausal and postmenopausal women
  • Those taking contraceptives
  • Those at risk for uncontrolled cell growth of the breast tissue
  • Those with abnormal ovarian tissue growth
  • Those struggling with weight issues

Seeking Health’s DIM + I3C is an important product to have on hand to support healthy estrogen metabolism. When your hormones are balanced and supported, you will feel calm and have healthy energy levels. Support that balance today!

Key Ingredients In DIM + I3C

  • I3C (indole-3-carbinol): Supports healthy estrogen balance
  • DIM (diindolylmethane): A byproduct of indole-3-carbinol, helps to support healthy estrogen balance
  • PQQ (from Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium Salt): Supports a healthy response to oxidative stress associated with xenoestrogen exposure

Why DIM + I3C Works

The consumption of broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables has long been associated with supporting normal detoxification processes. One chemical that has been isolated from these vegetables is Indole-3-carbinol or I3C. In the presence of acid in the stomach and some enzymes, this compound can metabolize into another compound known as diindolylmethane or DIM.

Both I3C and DIM have been shown to have the ability to change gene transcription. In other words, they can change how your cells make certain proteins. Research has shown that taking I3C and DIM may increase the expression of certain enzymes. These include cytochrome p450 (CYP450) phase 1 detoxification enzymes as well as phase II conjugation enzymes.

One of the most important “detoxification” pathways in the human body involves hormones and hormone-like chemicals. Few people realize that levels of estrogen need to be within specific limits. The role of estrogen in the body is important. Endogenous estrogen is vital for the growth of certain tissues. In the presence of too much estrogen, however, uncontrolled tissue cell growth can occur. To balance these risks, the body keeps tight control over how much estrogen is allowed to circulate. The body also regulates what type of estrogens are produced. It accomplishes this by carefully metabolizing or “detoxifying” excess estrogen.

It is well known that food components change gene transcription. In other words, when you eat certain foods, certain genes are either induced or “turned on” while other genes are inhibited or “turned off.” The genes that are turned on in the presence of I3C and DIM, are key players in the healthy metabolism of estrogen. When I3C and DIM are around, certain cytochrome P450 enzymes will be induced. These place a hydroxyl group on a specific carbon of the estrogen. When this hydroxyl group is on the second carbon, the type of estrogen metabolite that is made is less harmful to the body. When other enzymes are used instead, it is possible for the body to make more harmful metabolites by placing the hydroxyl group on the 4th or 16th carbon of estrogen.

These estrogen byproducts may damage cells. In the presence of damaged cells, the immune system may respond by increasing inflammation and oxidative stress. In essence, I3C and DIM helps ensure a healthy balance of normal estrogen metabolites are produced.

Estrogen metabolism is not the only thing that is supported with the intake of I3C and DIM from foods and supplements. This very same gene inducing behavior supports the metabolism of a multitude of estrogen-like chemicals in the environment as well. Whether it is plastics, fragrances, or fuel byproducts, when estrogen-shaped chemicals are processed in the liver, I3C and DIM will support their healthy normal metabolism.

DIM + I3C is designed to support your body’s natural processes to metabolize and detoxify. Try Seeking Health’s DIM + I3C today so you can get started supporting healthy hormone and toxin metabolism.

How to Enhance DIM + I3C

1

Consider Pulsing

Dr. Ben Lynch recommends using certain dietary supplements based on your need for them. Start with a partial serving and increase slowly over time to the full serving, only if needed. When you start feeling good, consider reducing the serving size, skipping days, or pausing supplementation. Then take again when you feel you need it (stressful day, traveling, chemical exposure, etc.), hence "pulsing." Work with your qualified healthcare practitioner to determine what's best for you.

2

Pairs Well With

Consider Liver Nutrients to support healthy liver protection and function for healthy hormone detoxification Consider Calcium D-Glucarate to support the glucuronidation pathway in the liver for detoxification support. Add Trace Minerals Complex if you need essential minerals that may be missing from your water or food, which help to support thyroid function and hormone balance.

You may have to start SLOW

I started this at the recommendation of my OBGYN due to estrogen dominance. I took it five days in a row and started noticing incessant itching in my palms, which then spread to my feet within a few days and then to my belly, head, breast, etc. Having dealt with this itching issue before due to cholestasis during pregnancy, I knew that it was too powerful for my liver to detox efficiently so I had to stop. It's been five months and I'm finally weaning off of Benadryl to keep the itching at bay. Before you take this supplement make sure your liver detox pathways are open and working properly because it's potent! I am now starting it up again but will start out only taking it 1-2 times a week and increase slowly so that my liver can handle it. I also did castor oil packs on my liver at night while taking it to help support my liver.
