How to Use Optimal Electrolyte

Suggested Use

With dry hands, add one scoop of Optimal Electrolyte powder to a glass 1/4 filled (approximately 2 ounces) with purified water. Do NOT get the scoop wet. Allow to bubble for a few seconds. Then fill the glass to a full 8 ounces.

Where do the 4 grams of carbohydrates come from in Optimal Electrolyte?

There are a total of 4 grams of carbohydrates in Optimal Electrolyte. Two grams come from the D-ribose, and 2 grams come from the presence of malic acid.

The 2 grams of sugar come from the D-ribose, a natural plant sugar that helps support energy production and occasional muscle soreness from exercise. D-ribose is NOT added for sweetness or flavor.†

Though malic acid is not technically a significant contributor to carb intake, the FDA defines it as a carbohydrate. The FDA calculates carbohydrates as the following: "Total carbohydrate content shall be calculated by subtraction of the sum of the crude protein, total fat, moisture, and ash from the total weight of the food." Often in lists of nutritional information, such as the USDA National Nutrient Database, the term "carbohydrate" (or "carbohydrate by difference") is used for everything other than water, protein, fat, ash, and ethanol. This includes chemical compounds such as acetic or lactic acid, which are not customarily considered carbs. (Malic acid would also be included here). While malic acid is not really a carbohydrate, its presence affects the carbohydrate calculation and is thus considered a carbohydrate by the FDA's definition. The 2g of additional carbohydrates listed on the label are due to the presence of malic acid in the formulation.

Delicious

I drink this every morning as soon as I wake up. It really makes me feel hydrated and gives me a small boost of energy. Cannot drink past 3pm or it will keep me up at night. Mixes super easily. Only reason it didn't receive 5 stars is because it is fizzy and I'm not really a fan of that. But it hydrates well and is not too expensive so I keep drinking it. Love all the flavors.

Great Electrolyte

One of the best electrolytes I found on the market! great amount of Creatine, Magnesium, Potassium and more... BUT it has added sugar!!! I want to use it while fasting and it has SUGAR! As soon as you guys make unsweetened option, it goes on my auto ship plan. At the moment won't be repurchasing.
